A fantastic alpine skiing year with great Swedish successes will conclude with a ski festival in Åre. From 14-18 March 2018, the elite of ski racing will finish up the battle for the coveted FIS crystal trophies awarded to the World Cup season’s best racers. But who is actually entitled to take part in the season finale?

It’s soon time for the season ending ski festival in Åre! In the course of an entire week in March, the top alpine ski racers – both ladies and men – of the 2017/18 season will determine who will clinch the highly valued titles of the FIS Ski World Cup season champion.

The competitions will be carried out on the 2019 World Championships slopes from 14-18 March and besides downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom, the Finals week in Åre will also feature the “Swedish-friendly” alpine team event on Friday. The 25 top ranked racers in the respective FIS World Cup event standings are qualified for the World Cup Finals.

Racers not currently among the top 25 in the event specific World Cup standings may still qualify in the remaining World Cup races before the Åre 2018 Finals. The winners from the FIS Junior World Ski Championship 2018 in Davos, Switzerland, are also qualified in the events they won.

The winners of the respective FIS World Cup event standings as well as in the overall World Cup standings will receive a crystal globe while similar hand-blown crystal medals will be presented to the top three in each standing.
