Volunteers are the heart and soul of any large sports event. Without the amazing people who sacrifice their time to make it all work before, during and after the event there would be no event. After a few idle months, Åre 2019 volunteer registration has re-opened and the interest for volunteering seems to be higher than ever.
As many noticed, the Åre 2019 volunteer registration form was off-line since June. It needed some upgrades and consideration for the new regulations on the protection of personal data implemented by the European Union.
On Monday, September 25, the volunteer registration system was re-opened and numerous responses and new registrations were immediately received. As is often the case with new tools there were a few glitches in the beginning. However, those have now been resolved and Åre 2019 cannot wait to greet many new fantastic volunteers as part of the team.
Åre 2019 will need a total of 1300 volunteers, divided into groups that will prepare the slopes, build temporary constructions, sell tickets and much more. For the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals in 2018, the estimated need is 600 volunteers.
Many of the volunteers from the 2007 championships in Åre still hold volunteering in high regard and often recall how being a volunteer leaves memories that last a lifetime. It is also a chance to establish friendships that will last long after the nets have been taken down.
Applications are open by filling out the form here. You can find a description of the roles available on the same page. The process of evaluating application is ongoing and we will close registration at the end of December 2017.
